
Abbreviations, Acronyms, Jargon and Other Shortcuts Used at Vision
The business of education has used a variety of abbreviations over the years, and at Delta Vision HCP we're no different. We have adopted the current education-ese and added our own. Here you will find everything that we can think of that might help you transition to our language.
Most Common
A list of what confuses families and learners most:
- DVHCP—Delta Vision Home and Community Program (it says "program", but it is really a public school withing the Delta School District.
- Delta Vision HCP—Ibid
- RC—A Resource Consultant is the family and learner's primary person to interact with regarding funding learning plans, materials, etc.
- HQC—A Highly Qualified Consultant is a person trained in an academic specialty area. HQC's are the person an RC, family or learner goes to when they need help in a specific subject. HQC's also approve learning plans and help work out problems in ILP's
- HQ—Ibid
- Ibid—Short for the latin word ibidum meaning same as before.
- ILP—The Individual Learning Plan is the primary document that outlines what a learner will be doing for their education during the year. Nothing procedes until the ILP is complete and approved.
- VILP—Vision ILP. This term occasionally shows up in the Paragon student database.

- CBLA— Colorado Basic Literacy Act
- FERPA— Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
- CDE— Colorado Department of Education
- ACT Test— American College Testing
- SAT Test— Scholastic Aptitude Test
- TABE Test— Test of Adult Basic Education
- GED— General Education Development (sometimes: General Equivalency Diploma)
- ELL— English Language Learner
- AR Program— Accelerated Reader Program
- COGAT Test— Colorado Gifted and Talented (Test)
