We are now well into our school year with the first quarter complete.  I hope that you all are seeing great progress toward your learner’s ILP goals.  Here are some reminders for your personalized support provided by the DVHCP:

Advanced and Limited Support – Your Resource Consultant should be meeting with you at least once per month to discuss the progress being made toward your learner’s goals.  Together, you will choose some learning samples at least once per quarter that demonstrates progress toward those goals.  These samples, along with observations of progress, are loaded into our official Progress Document – the Documentation of Growth by your RC each month.  Your Highly Qualified Consultant will also review and document progress quarterly in this document.

Required and Learning Specialist Support – Your Resource Consultant should be meeting with you on a weekly basis (possibly every other week with a regular weekly check in by phone or email) to discuss the progress being made toward your learner’s goals.  Once again, you will choose some learning samples together, but this will be done more often than in the other support levels, in order to gain more support to help your child reach their educational goals.  The frequency should be determined by consensus of the parent, RC, and HQC – but at a minimum, it should be completed once per month.  Your RC will document a brief description of progress and load the collectively chosen samples into the Documentation of Growth.  The HQC will also review and document progress on a monthly basis.

The intent of these support levels is to provide the needed amount of support for each child (and family) to succeed.  Depending upon the circumstances, this may mean more program support will be desired or needed for one Learner than it is for another.  We are continually striving to provide the appropriate amount of needed help and educational support for all of our learners.  If you have ideas on how to achieve this goal in a better way, please join us at our Initiative meeting on November 14th from 12:00 – 1:00.
